My Sourdough Journey & Must Haves

A little less than a year ago, I stumbled upon the enchanting world of sourdough baking. Intrigued by its simplicity and the allure of creating bread from scratch, I decided to delve into this ancient craft. I did not expect that this simple decision would turn into a profound passion, transforming my weekly routine into a cherished ritual.




What started as a curious exploration quickly turned into a weekly affair that I eagerly anticipate. Mixing flour, water, salt, and the magical starter—the heart and soul of sourdough—has become my favorite part of the week. There's a certain meditative quality to the process—the gentle folding, shaping, and patiently waiting for the dough to rise. In those moments, I find solace and peace amidst life's hustle and bustle.





One of the most gratifying aspects of my sourdough journey is the realization that I no longer need to rely on store-bought bread. The distinct aroma that fills the kitchen as the bread bakes in the oven is a testament to the dedication poured into every step of the process. I also love how baking my sourdough nourishes not just my soul but also my body. It's amazing—I used to have trouble with store-bought bread, but now, since I started making my own, I can enjoy bread without any stomach discomfort. I'm thrilled that I can indulge in as much homemade bread as I want without worrying about how my body processes it. It's been a fantastic discovery that's made my love for bread even sweeter!




Moreover, sharing this joyous creation has become a tradition I cherish. I've found immense pleasure in gifting my homemade sourdough to friends and family. Each loaf is wrapped in a brown paper bag, adorned with a sticker that proclaims, "Homemade with Love from Caylee's Kitchen." The joy on their faces when they see the thoughtful packaging and they savor each bite is truly priceless.




Embarking on the sourdough journey has not only introduced me to the joys of homemade bread but has also become an avenue for self-expression and creativity. With each loaf, I experiment with flavors, textures, and techniques, making each batch a unique creation. This is one of my favorite's from fall - a pumpkin shaped loaf!
