As the winter chill makes way for the warmth of spring, it's the perfect time to engage in the ritual of spring cleaning. Beyond the routine tasks of dusting and decluttering, consider this an opportunity to rejuvenate your living space thoughtfully. In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore a systematic approach to spring cleaning while emphasizing the importance of incorporating eco-friendly, non-toxic cleaning practices.
Strategic Decluttering: Commence the spring cleaning journey with a strategic decluttering process. Evaluate each room meticulously, identifying items that no longer serve a functional or aesthetic purpose. Donate, sell, or responsibly dispose of belongings to create a harmonious and streamlined living environment.
Methodical Room-by-Room Approach: To avoid feeling overwhelmed, adopt a methodical approach to cleaning, focusing on one room at a time. Begin from the top, addressing ceiling fixtures, vents, and shelves, then gradually work your way down to floors and baseboards. This systematic strategy ensures no detail is overlooked and facilitates a thorough cleansing process.
Refresh Living Spaces: Infuse new life into living spaces by transitioning from heavy winter textiles to lighter, brighter fabrics. Refresh upholstery, curtains, and linens through cleaning or rotation. Consider rearranging furniture to optimize space and enhance the flow of natural light throughout your home.
Comprehensive Kitchen Maintenance: The kitchen, often the hub of household activities, demands special attention during spring cleaning. Empty and clean the refrigerator, wipe down cabinets and countertops, and undertake a thorough cleaning of kitchen appliances. Assess and discard expired pantry items to promote a healthier culinary environment.
Extend Cleaning Efforts Outdoors: Don't limit your cleaning endeavors to the interiors. Extend your efforts to outdoor spaces by sweeping patios, power washing decks, and cleaning outdoor furniture. Prune overgrown plants to create a welcoming outdoor haven for the impending warmer months.
Rejuvenate Bedrooms and Bathrooms: In the bedroom, launder bedding, rotate or flip mattresses, and organize closets. Consider donating unused clothing to charities to enhance both space and purpose. In the bathroom, deep clean tiles, grout, and dispose of outdated toiletries. Invest in new towels to introduce a touch of luxury.
Pay Attention to Details: Address often-overlooked details such as light switches, doorknobs, and baseboards. Thoroughly clean these areas to eliminate accumulated dirt and germs, contributing to a healthier and more polished living space. Additionally, replace air filters to ensure optimal indoor air quality.

Eco-Friendly Practices:
Incorporate eco-friendly practices into your spring cleaning routine by opting for non-toxic cleaning supplies. These products not only maintain a pristine living space but also contribute to a sustainable and environmentally conscious lifestyle.
Conventional cleaning products often contain harsh chemicals like ammonia, chlorine, and phthalates. These chemicals release volatile organic compounds (VOCs), contributing to indoor air pollution and health problems such as respiratory irritation, headaches, hormone disrupters, and skin sensitivities.
You may choose to transition to natural cleaning alternatives such as vinegar, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and essential oils. These substances effectively disinfect and clean surfaces without emitting harmful fumes or impacting indoor air quality. Here are some of my favorite products to help create your own cleaning solutions!
Amber Glass Spray Bottles - These are great for homemade cleaners!
Amber Glass Soap Dispensers - I love these not only for homemade soap, but also for a more uniformed look! It also allows you to buy in bulk of a non-toxic option and fill it up!
Stainless Steel Funnels - Funnels are a must have for making your own cleaning products. It makes the process much easier and less messy.
Aura Cacia Essential Oils Kit - There are a lot of essential oils out there and you want to make sure the oils you are getting are quality oils that aren't filled with unnecessary ingredients.
Dr. Bronner’s - Pure-Castile Liquid Soap - Dr. Bronner's is AMAZING! You can do so many things with it and buying it in bulk allows for a more cost effective solution.
While making your own cleaning solutions is amazing, I do typically opt for a more convenient option as having a full time job and being a homemaker can leave me with little time. My go-to brand is Molly's Suds which is on Amazon and I know can be at my door in a day if and when I need! Here are some of my favorites:
Molly's Suds Laundry Detergent Sheets - I love the reusable Dryer Balls the best though!
Another one of my go-tos is Branch Basics! Discovering Branch Basics was a revelation and it's probably my favorite out of all the pre-made cleaning products. Their non-toxic cleaning solutions revolutionized my approach to home cleaning. They offer many products, but also have one main concentrate that allows you to create a variety of products just by diluting it with water!
Last but not least, here are some of my favorite products to help me clean!
